Our Story

It started with a simple, shared frustration. Jeff, a freelancer, and Jiahao, a high school student, frequently needed to manipulate PDF files for work and studies. However, every time we searched for a solution online, we hit the same wall: the tools were either heavily paywalled, cluttered with intrusive ads, or required uploading our sensitive documents to remote servers.

In today's AI era, personal data is more valuable than ever. We realized that uploading files to unknown servers poses a severe privacy risk. Your private documents could easily be harvested to train AI models, turning your proprietary data into public knowledge.

Furthermore, we noticed that most top-tier digital tools weren't homegrown. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, we looked at the majestic Cedar tree—a profound symbol of resilience, longevity, and beauty in our region's history and landscape. It became the perfect namesake for our mission. We decided to build CedarPDF: a tool that reflects the values of our community.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Morale Officer

Meet Bossy, our adorable Dachshund and self-proclaimed mastermind behind CedarPDF. While he may not write a single line of code, he is the undisputed heart of this project. He provides exceptional emotional support, enforces mandatory walk breaks, and maintains a strict "no bugs allowed" policy (by barking at the screen). He firmly believes he is the core of our success, and honestly, we don't dare to disagree.

Jeffrey

Technical Lead & Core Architecture

As a freelancer, Jeff experienced firsthand the lack of reliable, private PDF tools. He is responsible for the overall technical architecture, selecting the right open-source libraries, and ensuring that all processing remains securely confined to the user's browser environment.

Jiahao

QA Testing & Operations Support

Balancing high school studies with a passion for technology, Jiahao ensures that every feature works flawlessly across different devices and browsers. He handles rigorous testing, gathers user feedback, and provides essential operational support to keep the project running smoothly.

Short-Term Goals

Deep Optimization: Continuously refine existing features, such as improving compression algorithms and enhancing the accuracy of text extraction (OCR), based on our deeper understanding and direct user feedback.
Expanded Toolset: Gradually introduce more specialized PDF utilities while strictly adhering to our 100% client-side processing principle.

Long-Term Vision

Offline Desktop & Mobile Apps: We are actively planning to develop dedicated offline applications for PC and mobile devices. While our web version is already highly secure, native offline apps will completely remove browser constraints, offering significantly more powerful processing capabilities and an even more intuitive, tangible sense of privacy protection.
