1.1 100% Free & No Registration Required

CedarPDF is provided completely free of charge, with unlimited usage and no account registration required. We believe privacy and accessibility are fundamental rights. You can use all our tools instantly, without providing any personal information.

1.2 Client-Side Processing (Files Stay on Your Device)

All PDF processing occurs entirely locally in your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud infrastructure.

Once processing is complete and you download the result, the data is automatically cleared from your browser's memory. We have no access to, and do not store, your content.

1.3 Non-Profit Mission

This Service is operated as a non-profit project by a Canada-based volunteer team. Our sole goal is to provide a trustworthy, privacy-first, and highly capable PDF toolkit for everyone, free from the paywalls and data-harvesting practices of commercial alternatives.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You shall not:

• Use the Service to process content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or maliciously exploit the Service's code or infrastructure;
• Use automated scripts, scrapers, or bots to interact with the Service in a way that disrupts its operation or degrades the experience for others;
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with CedarPDF.

3. No Warranty & Limitation of Liability

3.1 "As Is" Basis

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

3.2 Technical Limitations

As a client-side web application, the Service's performance is inherently tied to your local environment:

• Processing speed and success depend on your device's hardware capabilities (e.g., available RAM and CPU) and your browser's version.
• Extremely large files or PDFs with highly complex, non-standard, or corrupted internal structures may experience performance degradation or fail to process, as they are bound by your device's memory limits.
• Results of operations like OCR or compression may vary based on the source file's quality and your device's processing power.

3.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the CedarPDF team and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including loss of data or profits) arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

4. Intellectual Property

• The Service's frontend code, UI design, and original written content are copyrighted by the project contributors. Where applicable, our open-source components are provided under permissive licenses (e.g., MIT License).
• Third-party libraries and open-source tools used within the Service remain under their respective licenses. We strictly comply with all attribution and license requirements.
• You retain all rights to your original files and processed outputs. CedarPDF claims absolutely no ownership, copyright, or intellectual property rights over any content you process using our tools.

5. Privacy Commitment

Technical transparency: All processing utilizes standard browser APIs (e.g., FileReader, Blob, WebAssembly). No external network requests are made to transmit your file data during operations. You are encouraged to verify this yourself using your browser's Developer Tools (Network tab).

6. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect Service improvements, new features, or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
