At CedarPDF, privacy isn't a feature—it's the foundation. We've built our tools to work entirely in your browser, which means your documents are processed on your device and never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
What We Don't Do
We believe in transparency. Here's what we never do:

- ❌ Track your activity or usage patterns
- ❌ Use cookies for tracking or advertising
- ❌ Collect personal information or email addresses
- ❌ Share data with third parties (because we have none to share)
- ❌ Analyze or scan your document content
How It Works: 100% Client-Side
All PDF processing happens locally in your web browser using standard web technologies:
- FileReader API - Reads files from your device
- WebAssembly - Runs PDF processing code at native speed
- Blob API - Creates downloadable results
- In-memory processing - Files exist only in your browser's temporary memory
Technical verification: Open your browser's Developer Tools (F12) → Network tab while using CedarPDF. You'll see zero network requests during file processing.
The Only Data We Access
To provide our service, your browser temporarily holds files in memory during processing. This data:
- Exists only in your device's RAM
- Is automatically cleared when you close the tab or refresh the page
- Is never written to disk or transmitted anywhere
- Cannot be accessed by us or anyone else
Think of it like using a calculator app: the numbers exist while you're using it, then they're gone.
Third-Party Services
CedarPDF is hosted on infrastructure that may involve third-party services (e.g., domain registrar, SSL certificate provider). However:
- These services never receive your files
- We choose providers with strong privacy commitments
- All processing remains client-side
Our code is open-source and auditable. If you're technical, you can verify our privacy claims yourself.
Your Rights
Under privacy regulations like GDPR and PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access any data we might have (spoiler: we have none)
- Delete your data (again, there's nothing to delete)
- Object to processing (your files never reach us to process)
- Portability (your files are already yours, always)
Children's Privacy
CedarPDF doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (or 16 in some regions). But since we don't collect data from anyone, this is automatically satisfied. Kids can use our tools safely, just like adults.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect improvements or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we'll:
- Post the updated policy on this page
- Update the "Last Updated" date
- Provide prominent notice (e.g., banner on homepage) for significant changes
